The Final StretchPure adrenalinePushed through the discomfort to finish strong.
The race kicked off at 6:00 AM. I felt great initially and managed to run strong in the first half of the course. However, the reality of my recent lack of training quickly set in. My heart rate shot up much higher than usual, and by the time I hit kilometer 7, that familiar, sharp pain in my right knee started to flare up.
From that point on, I had to be incredibly careful with my stride, monitoring every step to make sure I didn't do any serious damage.

Grinding to a Sub-60 Finish ⏱️
Despite the high heart rate and the nagging knee, I refused to let the race slip away. I am incredibly glad I persevered. Watching the distance click down, I gave it everything I had left in the tank and managed to cross the finish line in 59 minutes! Sneaking under that one-hour mark felt like a massive victory given the circumstances.

What I Loved About KLSCM 2026
  • The Medal Design: The organizers absolutely nailed it this year. I completely love the design of the finisher medal—it is a beautiful memento that makes all the sweat and knee pain worth it.
  • Top-Notch Volunteers: A huge shoutout to the race marshals and station crews. There was great support from the volunteers at every water station and intersection, keeping us hydrated and moving in the right direction.
  • The Final Leg Crowd Support: The absolute highlight of the route was the final stretch. I thoroughly enjoyed the incredible support and cheering from the crowd during the last leg of the race. When your legs want to quit, hearing the energy of the spectators downtown gives you that final boost to sprint to the line.
